American-Made Geogrids & Gabions Satisfy NYDOT Specs For Road & Bridge Stabilization
New York's Old Route 17 and the Redhouse Bridge were in need of an overhaul in order to meet NYDOT safety standards. We helped get the job done with a rugged, American-made geogrid for road stabilization that was compliant with NYDOT specifications.
Background
Old Route 17 Highway in New York was in poor condition and required re-stabilization. Furthermore, the Redhouse Bridge that carries Old Route 17 over the Allegheny River was slated for replacement to meet safety standards. NYDOT contacted Ferguson Waterworks for American-made road stabilization solutions. In total, nearly 5.7 miles of the former Route 17 needed replacement.
Solution
After assessment, the team planned to scrape down the base of Old Route 17 to incorporate a new geogrid for road stabilization. In addition to shipping 99,502 square yards of Tensar HX165 Geogrid, Ferguson Waterworks also supplied over 500 gabion baskets for the bridge rehabilitation project. In addition, Maccaferri Gabions were utilized.
All stabilization products were American-made and per NYDOT specifications.
