Helicopter Hydroseeding Vegetates The Steep Terrain Of West Virginia

When an upcoming seeding project is met with limited access and steep terrain, they turn to Ferguson Waterworks for smart hydroseeding solutions.

Project Overview

A customer called Ferguson Waterworks in Fairmont, WV to discuss an upcoming seeding project. Due to the limited site access and steep terrain, traditional seeding methods were unattainable. Instead, they rented hydroseeders and a helicopter to get the job done.

Challenge

After discussing project parameters, our Ferguson Waterworks expert determined the seeding products requested by the customer were not ideal for helicopter hydroseeding. As a result, our Geo and Stormwater specialists contacted the customer to discuss optimizations. After a site visit and free soil testing, we were able to offer site-specific soil health and reclamation products that would work well for hydroseeding by helicopter.

Solution

After conducting a soil test, we recommended a combination of Profile Products for the helicopter hydroseeding. This included Flexterra, ProGanics®, and blend mulches along with various site-specific soil amendments. Then, our product specialists joined the customer onsite for training. We discussed safe hydroseeder operations. In addition, we interacted with the helicopter pilot to ensure proper mix ratios for soil coverage.

Despite the exceptional fall drought, the Right of Way (ROW) was fully vegetated in 3 months.

What soil health and reclamation products did Ferguson Waterworks supply to ensure successful helicopter hydroseeding?

Because Ferguson Waterworks offers an exhaustive inventory of soil health and reclamation products as well as expert capabilities and job site support, we provide comprehensive and effective seeding solutions. From free soil testing to custom blend grass seed and Proganics® Biotic Soil Media, our customers’ goals were accomplished without delay.
