Project Overview

The Oklahoma City Zoo needed a visually pleasing sidewalk solution for a new exhibit pathway.

Challenge

Because the pathway construction was set to take place during operating hours, it was important to streamline installation and minimize disruption to the park and its guests. In addition, it was important to maintain a visually appealing sidewalk solution. Being that the exhibit pathway was in the middle of the park, product transportation was a key consideration.

Solution

As a result of their reliability, aesthetics, and lightweight construction, GeoPave and GeoBlock Pavers were selected for this project. They were installed atop the pathway’s prepared subgrade. No base course was necessary due to the preexisting subgrade strength and expected light traffic over the area. The team at the zoo was familiar with these types of applications and with these permeable paving products that were used in other areas of the zoo. Overall, the installation was seamless, the pathway looked professional, and the final product was ready to withstand traffic.

ShearForce 10 installed beneath and around operational solar panels in order to prevent erosion.

With solar panels in place and operational, an immediate and effective erosion control solution was imperative. Especially considering the panels were positioned next to channels, drip lines, and spillways.
