Soil Testing
Free soil testing for customers
Ferguson Waterworks is dedicated to providing premium customer service and high-quality solutions to tackle geo and stormwater projects. When it comes to the quick establishment of vegetation, we understand the importance of first analyzing the soil and the site’s makeup. That is why we offer free soil tests for our customers so we can better examine the soil structure and the available nutrients. As a result, we eliminate the guesswork in specifying the proper type and amount of soil nutrients and conditioners necessary to support robust root systems. Contact your Ferguson Waterworks representative to schedule a free soil test* and get your project off to a successful start.
*To note, free soil testing is offered to Ferguson Waterworks’ customers exclusively.
How to conduct a soil test – 5 simple steps
- Firstly, identify your sample area. To accomplish this, look for discoloration in the soil. This is usually a sign of nutrient depletion or variability.
- Before taking a sample, remove existing vegetation and debris from the area. Then place 1-2 scoops of soil, 2 to 4 inches deep into a large, sealable sample bag.
- Afterward, move to different areas across the project site and add more samples to your collection bag. Each soil test requires a total of 2 pounds or 20 ounces of soil, approximately.
- Once all soil samples are collected, seal the bag tightly and label it with your name, date, phone, email, and project title.
- Head to the nearest Ferguson Waterworks location to drop off your sample. Then, after confirming all project and contact information, we will send the sample to the lab for testing. After the lab receives the sample, it takes 4 days to get the results. That’s when a Ferguson Waterworks associate will call you, further analyze the results, and share remediation tactics to mend your soil.
