CRAFS
Corrugated Retention and Filtration System (CRAFS) for heavily concentrated runoff
CRAFS is a corrugated retention and filtration system for sediment control in critical spots where there is a heavy concentration of runoff. For example, areas where runoff accumulates and can overflow, knock down, scour beneath, or wash away standard silt fences. Unlike a traditional sediment retention device (SRD), the corrugated design strengthens the system to reduce the chance of failure. Furthermore, it offers more fabric surface area, rapidly filtering seepage through the system. When installed with a silt fence, CRAFS provides a “control outlet” to prevent sediment contamination of adjacent properties and waterways.
What are the advantages of installing CRAFS, corrugated retention and filtration system alongside a silt fence?
- Corrugated design strengthens the device and reduces the chance of failure
- Provides rapidly filtered seepage with 95% trapping efficiency
- Eliminates the need for costly sediment basins
- Upstream and downstream posts provide three-dimensional stability
