Ground Protection Mats (GPM)
AlturnaMATs and VersaMATs provide both heavy equipment and pedestrian access on and around muddy worksites
Ground protection mats (GPM) are portable, stable, and reusable for 10+ years. Their high-density polyethylene construction and interlocking hardware support up to 80 tons of pressure depending on the application and substrate. As a result, these mats are a quality solution for protecting construction site entryways and providing stable pedestrian detours. In addition, customers rely on GPMs to create temporary roads throughout the work zone because they minimize damage to grass, turf, or other soft substrates. For extremely muddy or rutted conditions, try our heavy-duty mud mats.
What are the benefits of ground protection mats?
- Easy to install
- Modular
- Reusable for 10+ years
- Prevent stuck vehicles
- Supports up to 80 tons
- Ideal for construction site entryways
Be sure to clean mats when moving job sites to avoid transporting invasive species and consider implementing a track-out control system.
AlturnaMAT
Best suited for heavy construction equipment
Recognized for its aggressive tread pattern, AlturnaMAT enhances heavy-equipment traction. As a result, construction projects stay on track despite wet and muddy conditions. From its lifetime guarantee and superior load capacity to size and color options, AlturnaMAT is a smarter ground protection solution than plywood.
Why should you choose AlturnaMAT instead of plywood?
- Lifetime warranty
- Reusable and therefore reduces landfill materials and project expenses
- Recyclable HDPE
- UV stable
- Withstands both extreme heat and freezes
- Interlocking system for custom sizing and design
As a premium supplier of construction materials, Ferguson Waterworks distributes AlturnaMAT in three colors: black, white, and clear. All mats are UV stabilized.
What are clear ground protection mats?
Clear, also known as translucent, ground protection mats are an innovative solution that further protects grass. Due to its transparency, the covered grass is less prone to browning from the lack of sun. Furthermore, in comparison to black mats, clear mats reduce the likelihood of heat damage. Both AlturnaMat and VersaMAT are available in translucent.
VersaMAT
Ideal for high pedestrian traffic
In comparison to AlturnaMAT, VersaMAT has a slightly less aggressive tread. Otherwise, it maintains a similar load capacity and has equivalent specifications and benefits. As a result, construction and pavement professionals are more likely to use VersaMAT for temporary pedestrian detours (for walking, wheelchair access, biking, and more) or paths within the worksite for moving small equipment such as wheelbarrows or driving small conveyances like golf carts.
