Soil Conditioners
Improve topsoil to encourage rapid, healthy vegetation with professional soil conditioners
Soil conditioners work to build soil health. They promote natural microbial activity and topsoil-forming processes which are the hallmarks of healthy, vegetation-supporting soil systems. Below are some of the most common conditioners, however, Ferguson Waterworks offers customers a vast and diverse selection to promote long-lasting vegetation for any application.
If you need help identifying how to optimize growing conditions for your next project, contact your local Ferguson Waterworks expert today. We can assist with free soil testing and custom revegetation solutions.
Aqua-pHix™
When used consistently, Aqua-pHix is known as the easiest, most cost-efficient method to treat hard water and highly alkaline soils, or “sweet soils”, with high amounts of calcium, sodium, and magnesium. Its proprietary blend of chelated buffered acid with a pH < 1.0 is safe for people, equipment, and turf. Initial cost and cost-in-use are significantly lower than the most commonly used acidifier-type soil conditioners on the market, as documented by third-party testing.
NeutraLime™
Choose NeutraLime Dry for acidic soils with pH values less than 6.3. NeutraLime utilizes fast-acting calcium carbonate (CaCO3), raising soil pH in 3-7 days. Furthermore, this soil conditioner lasts up to 18 weeks. For best results, use NeutraLime in conjunction with slow-release agricultural lime for sustained neutralization.
Humate
Complex and organic, humate is a highly concentrated soil conditioner. It reduces clay content and compaction and helps create organic matter. As a result, it both facilitates plant growth and increases soil water retention.
Gypsum
If the soil lacks essential calcium and sulfur, then consider adding gypsum. Gypsum adds these crucial elements in a sulfate form making them readily available as plant food. As a result, this soil conditioner promotes strong root development and aeration with only a small change in pH.
Agricultural Lime
Correct soil acidity and raise pH with tried-and-true agricultural lime. Also known as AG lime, this calcium carbonate product breaks up clay, improves soil texture, and increases the availability of nutrients for plants.
Mycorrhizae
This organic fungus greatly benefits root health and protects plants from soil-borne diseases. Their long, thin roots travel deep into the soil, absorbing and releasing useful nutrients. As a result, mycorrhizae improves soil structure and supports healthy plant growth.
Disintegrating Sulfur
Speed up sulfur oxidation, and therefore plant growth, with fast-acting disintegrating sulfur. This sulfur-bentonite product is packaged for easy dry handling and quickly activates with moisture.
Lot 125
This biologically enhanced soil conditioner packs a lot of power. Not only does it help convert fertilizer into complex plant nutrients, but also it buffers salts and enhances micronutrient availability. Furthermore, it reduces runoff by promoting soil aeration.
What is pH treatment?
The pH scale measures how acidic or basic (alkaline) a substance is. As such, the soil pH value is a measure of soil acidity or alkalinity. Therefore, it directly affects nutrient availability. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14, with 7 as neutral. Numbers less than 7 indicate acidity, meanwhile numbers greater than 7 indicate alkalinity. Please note that the pH value of soil is one of several environmental conditions that impact the quality of plant growth. Plants thrive best in different soil pH ranges.
In wastewater treatment, the term “pH” refers to the measurement of hydrogen ion activity in the solution. Determination of pH plays an important role in the wastewater treatment process. Chemical separation systems or simple pH adjustments are often all that is needed to both treat and dispose of wastewater.
What are the benefits of pH treatment?
Soil pH is important because it influences several soil factors affecting plant growth, such as soil bacteria, nutrient leaching, nutrient availability, toxic elements, and soil structure. pH control improves wastewater treatment and simultaneously reduces chemical usage and the associated costs, therefore increasing profitability. Include additives within the mix when hydro-mulching foreign or unbalanced soils to ensure optimal growing conditions.
What is Aqua-pHix™?
Aqua-pHix is a proprietary blend of chelated, buffered acid. It helps manage hard water and highly alkaline soil. Available in granular, spray, and fertigation formulas, it is proven more effective than any sprayable acidifier on the market. Furthermore, it is the most economical treatment for high-pH soils. Unlike sulfuric acid, Aqua-pHix is safe to the touch and non-corrosive to spray.
What are the benefits of Aqua-pHix™?
Aqua-pHix is proven to quickly decrease the pH of soils to both improve plant growth and reduce unwanted salts and bicarbonates in the soil. Furthermore, it makes nutrients more readily available for plant uptake, meanwhile minimizing the leaching or runoff of fertilizer into streams, rivers, lakes, and groundwater.
What is NeutraLime™?
Part of Profile’s ProPlus® Prescriptive Solutions, NeutraLime quickly neutralizes acidic soils. As a result, it promotes more complete germination and improves nutrient uptake. Not to mention, it mixes easily in the tank and begins to improve soil pH within 3 to 7 days after application. The faster you establish vegetation, the sooner you can walk away from an erosion control project. NeutraLime will help you do just that.
What are the benefits of NeutraLime™?
One 40-pound (18.1 kg) bag of NeutraLime contains 50 percent more calcium carbonate (CaCO3) in comparison to the highest concentrated 2.5-gallon (9.5 L) jug of liquid lime. Its graduated particle sizing extends maximum effectiveness up to 18 weeks. Furthermore, NeutraLime balances soil pH in 7-10 days after application. It features a high concentration of the purest form of limestone available. Easy to mix and use, NeutraLime is ideal for hydroseeder application.
How do I store Lot 125 soil conditioner?
Please note that Lot 125 should be stored in its original container in a cool, dry place. If accidental exposure to direct sunlight, flush with water. This product is non-hazardous, however, we advise eye protection when handling this product.
